Free SketchUp viewer

Open and view SketchUp files online

Drop in any .skp to orbit, zoom and look around the model in 3D. No SketchUp, no sign-up, and the file stays on your device.

How to view a SketchUp file online

  1. Click Choose a .skp file above, or drag the file onto the viewer.
  2. The model's saved preview appears straight away while the full 3D model loads.
  3. Drag to orbit, scroll or pinch to zoom, and right-drag or two-finger drag to pan.

A free replacement for SketchUp Viewer

SketchUp retired its free desktop Viewer: since April 22, 2025 it can no longer be downloaded. This SKP file viewer fills the same gap without installing anything. It reads the .skp itself, draws every face with SketchUp-style edge lines, and frames the whole model so you can see it at a glance. For a full comparison of the alternatives, see our guide to viewing a SketchUp file without SketchUp.

Private by design

Most online viewers upload your model to their servers to process it. This one doesn't: your browser reads and draws the file on your own device, and we never receive it. That makes it safe for client work, drawings under NDA and anything you'd rather not hand to a third party.

What it shows, and what it doesn't

  • Shows: the model's geometry, groups and components, colors and textures, plus the SketchUp version that saved the file.
  • Doesn't yet: saved scenes, toggling tags, measuring, or editing. For those, open the model in SketchUp or SketchUp for Web.

Viewer says it's fine, but your SketchUp won't open it?

A viewer reads every version, but SketchUp 2020 and older can't open files saved in newer versions. Below the viewer you'll see which version saved the file and, once you pick yours, whether your SketchUp can open it. If it can't, you can convert it to an older SketchUp version (any version back to 2017, first file free). Our guide explains every way to open a file from a newer version, and if you're on Make 2017 there's a guide to opening newer files in SketchUp Make 2017.

Only need the version number? The SKP version checker reads it instantly, even for very large files.

SketchUp viewer questions

Is there still a free SketchUp viewer?

+

Yes, this one. SketchUp stopped offering its own Viewer for Desktop as a download on April 22, 2025. This viewer opens .skp files in any modern browser for free, with no account and no install.

Is my file uploaded?

+

No. The model is read and drawn by your browser on your own device. We never receive the file, so there's nothing to delete afterwards.

Which SketchUp versions can it open?

+

Files from current SketchUp releases, including the 2021-and-later file format, and older files back to classic versions like SketchUp 8. It also tells you which version saved the file.

How big a file can I open?

+

It depends on your device's memory. Most models open in seconds; files over about 60 MB can take a minute, and very large models may be too much for a phone or an older laptop.

Can I edit the model or see scenes and tags?

+

Not here: this is a viewer for looking around the model in 3D. To edit, use SketchUp itself or SketchUp for Web. If your desktop SketchUp can't open the file because it's too new, convert it to your version.

Does it work on a Mac, iPad or phone?

+

Yes. It runs in Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox on Mac, Windows, Linux, Chromebooks, iPad and phones. Use one finger to orbit and two to zoom and pan on a touchscreen.
